Rep Darrell Issa nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., announced Monday in a post on X that he was nominating President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Today I will nominate @realDonaldTrump for the Nobel Peace Prize. No one deserves it more,” Issa declared in the tweet.

Fox News Digital reached out to Issa’s office on Tuesday to request a comment from the congressman regarding why he decided to nominate the president for the award.

“Not since Ronald Reagan has an American president better represented the national resolve of peace through strength or the fundamental case for a world without war,” Issa said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Remarkably, it was the 2024 election of Donald Trump – more than 10 weeks before his swearing in – that tangibly kickstarted the cause of peace in numerous regions of the world, and we are already seeing the benefits. I hope the Committee takes note of these extraordinary times and recognizes that President Trump ideally represents what the Nobel Peace Prize should stand for,” the lawmaker added.

President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, less than a year into his first term in office.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last year.

“Donald Trump was instrumental in facilitating the first new peace agreements in the Middle East in almost 30 years,” the

congresswoman said, according to a January 2024 press release.

Later in 2024, Tenney nominated Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for the prize.

She asserted that their “valiant work to combat terrorism and stand up to Islamist regimes has directly led to greater regional and global stability,” according to a December 2024 press release.

Issa Nominates President Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

WASHINGTON – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Senior Member of the Judiciary Committee, has nominated President Donald Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Not since Ronald Reagan has an American president better represented the national resolve of peace through strength or the fundamental case for a world without war. Remarkably, it was the 2024 election of Donald Trump – more than 10 weeks before his swearing in – that tangibly kickstarted the cause of peace in numerous regions of the world, and we are already seeing the benefits. I hope the Committee takes note of these extraordinary times and recognizes that President Trump ideally represents what the Nobel Peace Prize should stand for.”

Issa wrote to the Norwegian Nobel Committee and urged that it give due consideration that President Trump is also the architect and principal inspiration for the 2019 Abraham Accords – the most significant, successful, and durable Middle East peace agreements in generations – for which he has in no way received fair recognition for his efforts and accomplishments.

Jørgen Watne Frydnes
Chair
Norwegian Nobel Committee
Henrik Ibsens gate 51
0255 Oslo

Dear Mr. Frydnes:

I write to encourage your close and careful consideration of President Donald J.
Trump to receive the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. I believe he is the best possible
choice.

The reasons for my advocacy include both the traditional standard for those who
have been recognized with this eminent award, as well as the astonishingly
effective impact that our 47th President has had in only a few short months since
his election: cooling tensions, establishing dialogue, and encouraging the
flourishing of freedom in practically every corner of the world and on behalf of the
cause of peace.

This sea change follows four years of American policy that led directly to chaos,
tyranny, and war. From the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, to Russia’s invasion of
Ukraine, to Iran’s fomenting of terrorism, financing regional war, and acceleration
toward the development of nuclear weapons, peace was at a low ebb when
President Trump took office.

He has subsequently appealed to a better way that placed peace through strength at the center of a global approach to a world in conflict.

Today, we see practically unbound prospects for peace, reconciliation, and
coexistence throughout the Middle East as President Trump has reset the landscape
throughout Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. He also continues to advance with a
bold and realistic determination to end the bloody and brutal fighting between
Russia and Ukraine and bring an end to this destructive conflict in a way that meets
the moment.

Furthermore, I hope you will take into further consideration that President Trump
is also the architect and principal inspiration for the 2019 Abraham Accords – the
most significant, successful, and durable Middle East peace agreements in
generations – for which he has in no way received fair recognition for his efforts
and accomplishments. The Abraham Accords are the crowning achievement of
President Trump’s first term that also saw a determination to wind down the war in
Afghanistan, peace through strength in Ukraine, and a committed effort to contain
Iran.

Thank you for the opportunity to share these considerations with the Committee.
Few world leaders maintain a steadfast and manifold commitment to a world
without war. That is why President Trump deserves this honor.

Sincerely,

Darrell Issa
Member of Congress
